PC - race driver: GRID

i was watching videos on youtube, and i must say it looks great! i am going to buy this. by that time, i'll have my upgrade sorted. ;)

stunning i cant wait :D

lucky its on 360 too :P

looks very like a very powerful game it will be the best racing game on the system so far

i like how they have focused on the racing from green light to checkered flag
and not taking pictures and all that crap

i mean it was fun in forza 2 but i cant help but think it took devlopment time away from the racing

ive been a Codemasters fan since Toca 1 and 2 soo have to get this game :D

is this game going to be awesome like need for speed?!

You're kidding about the need for speed comparison right? The NFS series has gone spiraling downhill into a racing joke instead of a racing game. The last good NFS game was Porsche Unleashed. Most Wanted, Underground, and Carbon are all total jokes.

Even though it wasn't considered part of the NFS franchise, the best game EA ever put on in history was Motor City Online. It was a racing MMO that had depth to it that no other racing game made to date can even touch, and thats including all the other racing jokes on the consoles like Project Gotham and Grand Tourismo.

Motor City online was the best racing game in history. EA or some other developer would be wise to get back to something like that.

im not impressed,Sorry guys just looks like any other racing game to me.

doesnt look any better than NFS: PRO STREET.

This game looks good!! Im def going to buy it as I am an AVID sim racer!! It doesnt look near enough to GTR2 or LFS but it looks good enough for me to buy!!

I think Underground 2 was an awesome game. I have had it for ages and still play it. I wish they had put cops in it though then it would have been way better. Pro Street is a joke though and ive only played the demo.
I just bought Juiced 2 and its pretty good and there are an insane amount of cars to choose from.
Will definitely be buying Race Driver: Grid if i can run it, it looks awesome.

mmm... now ive looked at the video for this game it looks like a normal racing game rather than NFS were you race on the street except for pro were its legal and yes pro does suck ass

Yeah what happened to that? I was just reading up on it and it looked sick!

EA dropped it because it wasn't making them money anymore. Subscription was $15 a month and I was a member since the beta version all the way up to when they closed it.

The game was fantastic. Best online community I have ever been a part of. One of the things I liked was that there truely was scarcity as far as certain cars or parts go. And as far as parts and tuning in gereral, you didn't just buy upgrade packages like in all the current new games, but you actualy bought specific parts like pistons, headers, ignition systems, and there were literaly hundreds of actual parts that exist in real life from real manufactures. Also the game was intelligent in that you couldn't mix and match parts that wouldn't work in real life. For example, you can't put ford 350 headers in a chevy 496 block. The game was fantastic. The parts catalogue in the game was insanely long. I can only think how good the game would be now if someone at EA were to ressurect the game.

Truly missed.

yea.. whooohooo, a game where you spend more time in the upgrade catalog than actually driving. I can kinda see why it was dropped. don't ge me wrong, can be a nice game, but as single player, its not really suited for MMO, simply because not enough people would stay interested.

as for Grid, it does look nice, not sure if i'm gonna get it tough.

Obviously you never played the game and you're missing my point. Yes, tuning and building cars was a big part of of the game, but as big as it was, the racing went even deeper. It was a MMO, so no matter what the game is going to be deep and involving. I would bet there were atleast 30+ tracks, and each was different, not just a variation of the same one. City races, oval races, traditional tracks, dirt tracks, drag racing, the racing aspect of the game was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

And I don't understand the second part of your post. Are you talking about GRID or Motor City Online, because GRID isn't a MMO obviously so if thats what you were referring to, you're not making sense. If you were talking about MCO and calling it single player, you are wrong there as well. Yes, you could race single player agaisnt the clock for cash, but 95% of races were multiplayer with anywhere from 4 to 8 live drivers.

I don't mean to vent, but I was very passionate about this game and when someone trashes it when they have never played it, and second, they don't understand it anyway., which clearly you don't.

I've never played WoW so I don't pretend to talk about it either.

I was talking about MCO, and I didn't call is singleplayer. but if building your car is the main part of the game (wich you made it sound like), I don't see the point of browsing through a catalog of parts with 30 other players all the time. maybe you get my point now.

there were other games like that, like F1 manager for example, you build your whole f1 car from scratch, and then you can race it. the building however in time got pretty boring. either way, everyone their own, even if the game was awesome for some people, if not enough people would play it, the costs of keeping the server's running are too big, hence it gets called off. so maybe the game wasnt that good after all?
