Hey,

Have a P4 3.2 with a Gigabyte of ram but pc seems to be runnign rather slow and occasionally unstable.

CPU temp is 40oc and have limited must applications from running.. Any suggestions on what may be causing it to be running slow...
Below is what is remaing on my startup list, thinking their maybe some sort of program running in the backgroud causing it to be slow..

You don't need ctfmon or jusched to run (granted they will re-assert themselves anyway I think). Apart from that your computer looks as if it's running top notch. As for the unstable part what are the specs on your PSU? And is that P4 a presscott by the way?

Its a hiper 580watt PSU, the one which allows you to add each individual power connector.

Yes, LGA775 3.2 with standard heat sink and fan

The Presscott's run hot anyway. 40c is probably about normal for that chip. What's the amperage on the +12 line on that PSU?

That i do not know but i know that the PSU is nothing to do with it as really only become unstable recently. I am thinking its either the thermal paste on cpu needs replacing...

Just it is freezing quiete often and only cure is a reboot.
