PC Running Slow

New Member here, with a question.
Lately my PC has been running slow, clock loses time, and mouse is sometimes jerky. I do believe I have a program running in the background, but I don't know how to search for it, and delete it. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Hit CRTL+ALT+DEL. Then look for a running process that takes alot of CPU (exept System Idle Process). Select end process and it should go faster
