Hello All

I have had this PC for about 4 years and it has been fine but i have noticed in the past 6 months that things i have done in the past having trouble now for example:
I used to listen to internet stations and surf or play poker but now music is hard to listen to hard to explain bitty or jumping not loading quick enough.

another example:
I am a bit of a Gamer and i find i get big lagg spikes not all the time but a lot more than i used to.

I did a Speed test and it came out as 6.0 MB download speed and 0.3 MB upload speed.

A bit of PC spec what i remember its a AMD quad core, 2.0 MB ram i have 2 graphic cards geforce4 9500gt and i have windows XP

i have done a disc cleanup and defrag just dont know what else i can try.

Check for malware and run a temp file cleaner.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.



Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Vista and Windows 7 users must right click on the hijackthis icon and click on run as. If the run as option doesn't appear then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on the icon to get it to appear.



Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Download and run Ccleaner.

Click up top right where it says download latest version. After installing, open program and click on run cleaner. Post both logs from step 1 and then do step 2 and report back if system is faster.

hello have done all that you said and it is a little better but seems that the problem is still there when i pull up PKR poker site sitting at table the music tends to go funny on when graphic cards are working harder.

Lets see if you have any unnecessary software installed. I need you to use hijackthis to post a special log. Open hijackthis, click on open misc tools section, click on open uninstall manager, click on save list and save it. Then copy and paste the contents back here.

I opened PC yesterday and discovered i only have one 2Gb ram stick i did have 2 one day one must have been taken out when i had pc problem I was looking on ebay to get a couple of 4gb sticks would this help and could that one stick be the problem or part of it
 
Your temps are fine.

When was the last time windows was freshly isntalled on this machine? Windows, over time, will corrupt itself, especially XP. I would suggest reinstalling windows to get your performance back.
