Try downloading a free application such as Speedfan. That will display temperatures of your processor, graphics card, HDD etc.

hey

thanks a lot
i just downloaded it
pc is sitting at 49 C
how will I know what the temp is when Im playing half life 2, what is too warm?

thanks again smart guy

57 C

it was 57 C when I alt tabed out, now its going down to 53
is that too hot, unhealthy hot?
thanks

Matt

That is fairly hot (although not in the danger zone). Check to make sure that there is no dust on the heatsync as this can cause considerable heat increase. I'd consider getting better cooling (i.e. more case fans, better processor heatsync etc).

Yeah I had a graphics card that reached up to around 65C when in game, I checked inside the case and the vent was clogged up with dust. I cleaned that out and I seen a 20C drop in temp.
