PC Upgrade to a good gaming machine

Hi all,

The time has come to upgrade my 5 year gaming PC. I want to upgrade
the following components which should put me back into the game.

New CPU---- i5-2500K 4x 3.30GHz, Boxed
New MB------ASUS P8Z68-V or ASROCK Z68 pro 3
Ram-----G.Skill DIMM Kit 8GB PC3-10667U CL9-9-9-24 (DDR3-1333)
or----Corsair Vengeance black DIMM Kit 8GB PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24 (1600)
Last and not least a new Grafik Card:

While I dont want to much noise I was thinking about the Gainward GTX-570 Phantom.
Other cards that come into thought is the EVGA Geforce GTX 570 Superclocked or the Palit GeForce GTX 570 Sonic Platinum.

I do have a question about the boxed CPU. I would like to overclock to 4GHz
and Im wondering if the normal boxed can handle this without any problem or is it necessary to use an aftermarket cooler. A SSD would also be nice but
which one. There is a lot of talk of problems. If someone could recommend one that wont give me problems with my suggestions it would be appreciated. It should be around 128GB or so.

Your comments or further suggestions would be appreciated.
 
you'd want a nice litlle aftermarket cooler for that, and idk bout the ssd, but otherwise looks good.
 
If you are really going to upgrade all those parts then your current psi will definitely not make the cut. You will need to upgrade it as well.

If you mean my PSU, then I will be keeping the one that I have.
At the moment I have a Nitrox 650 Watt. That should be enough
power for this setup. I realize a cpu cooler would be helpfull but is the boxed version good enough for 4GHz??
 
4 ghz might be too much, i'd go to 3.7 or so and watch it, then if it is still at good temps go up slowly till it starts getting into the danger zone.
 
Your PSU may have enough power, but being 5 years old, it is getting older and you may not want to risk it failing and taking your new system with it. Just a thought.
 
so if you leave it turned on and all or something like that then you'd have about 43k hours on it, which is a good but and the fan bearings can get worn and fail along with wiring and all the components, would be smart to get a new one every 4-5 years i'd say.
