i got a weird problem, when i turn my pc off by keeping my finger on the power button its fine comp turns off and off to sleep i go, but if i do the normal procedure via windows shutdown about 2-5 mins later the pc will start itself back up, any ideas anyone

One question comes to mind right from the start. Do you have anythiing like the turn power on by usb mouse or keyboard options enabled in the bios? Old creaky wood floors and someone walks by, near a busy intersection with large trucks commonly travel, etc. are conditions were simple everyday vibrations could see the system come to life out of nowhere.

On my old computer's motherboard, you could adjust when the computer turned on and off automatically in the BIOS/CMOS.

Also might want to try another PSU.

When I first installed Vista, I didn't realize that it has "sleep" as the big default button on the start menu. Do you have Vista, and are you clicking the sleep button, instead of choosing to actually shut down?

no i have xp and it did it with vist or xp installed so its got to be bios or hardware related, the bios is all default except for an overclock on memory and cpu, but i will check the bios see if default settings incur the machine turning on for some random reason
