PC won't turn on after failed OC.

EDIT: I have fixed the problem, turns out it was just a wiring mishap which was pretty strange... but it's fixed.

First and easiest thing to try is resetting the bios, if that does not work you may need to trouble shoot hardware.

Were your temps ok at 4ghz ?

Did you have temp safety settings enabled in the bios to prevent hardware damage if the system hit to high a temp ?

Yeah your CMOS settings are probably messed up. Either take out the CMOS battery, or more than likely, your motherboard will have a switch on the board that will do that without having to take out the battery. Your motherboard manual should detail that.

Alright, resetting the CMOS Battery and resetting the BIOS to default/factory settings got the computer to boot up.

But there's a new problem.

When I shut down the computer (completely off or sleep mode), the computer will not turn on whatsoever (no power at all) unless I take the CMOS Battery out let it sit for 15 seconds, and put it back in. I then press the power button and the computer magically comes back to life running perfectly.

BUT this problem happens EVERY TIME I shutdown, or put the computer in sleep. It does not happen if I restart or use the reset button on the computer.

Any ideas?

I jumped to 4.5Ghz

Had to use it. :P Anyhow, have you tried running everything back at stock settings to see what happens?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that's what you did to get it to boot. Did you keep it at stock settings afterwards?

Haha, nice one.

But yeah, everything is at stock and now im getting this stupid booting error where I have to reset the CMOS battery everytime I want to start my computer from it being turned off.

Not sure if it's possible but you may have fried your motherboard in someway. Try flashing it to a newer version or an older version. A completely fresh slate might help. Otherwise I would guess you fried your CPU, CPU socket, or motherboard in someway. Have any parts you can swap out for testing purposes?

If I fried my motherboard wouldn't it not be working at all? It works fine when I do the cmos reset boot. Plus, all I did was raise the multiplier to 45, I didn't touch the voltage, it was still stock.

It doesn't give any error message, my computer just won't turn on now tithout me taking out the cmos battery and putting it back in before pressing the power button.

it didn't give me an error message either when it failed from the overclock, I just closed saved+exited the bios to let it reboot, but it just shut off.

The only other thing you can do is remove and reinsert the memory, also try removing the hard drive and see if it will boot up. If not, you have motherboard, cpu or some other sort of hardware damage.

Edit - also what power supply are you using? Might want to try a different one.

I just upgraded from an antec 450w to a corsair tx650w.

I'll try reseatting things when I get home.

If you used the jumper to reset the bios? if so did you remove the jumper or set it back. After resetting do you pick Load Optimized Defaults and Save and Exit.

I don't actually have a jumper for this board. So I just reset through removing the cmos battery. But I do choose that option when resetting.
