hey guys my friend is going to buy a PC for his birthday. Because parents aren't allowing him to build one (which is good cause he for sure will break it), he is going to buy a name brand PC. What is a model you guys will reconmment? He'll upgrade to a pci-e graphics card and probably buy a new psu. Thanks

wats he going to be using it for and whats his budget? does it matter what company? b/c i kno that my parents like to get from dell becuase they got the finance thing.

Monarch computer only charges an $89 build fee for their customs, I guess thats a pretty good deal compared to other companys.

you should get an HP media center pc. I have one of the older media center pc's and mine has an ASUS mainboard. I have gone to customers that have ordered Dell pc's with non standard items like high performance vid cards. You have to be carefull some of the OEM computer manufacturers have proprietary power supplies. Also floppy drives are usually not standard any longer, if you still need one you usually have to have the OEM put one in.
You should try and find a local shop that will build one for you. If you do get a gaurantee as to how long the pc is covered, get it in writting.

Absolutely, definitely consider that :) (or similar options)

Newegg.com now offers to build the computer for you. They have a very nice selection for cheap, technically he will build his own, well customize it anyways. Not sure how much they charge though :D.

*EDIT*
I just looked at their site and i cannot find where to go to have them build it for you. I know there use to be a little advertisment about it on the side but it is gone now. Do not know if it was a limited time thing or not ill keep looking and if i find ill post a link.

*EDIT 2*
Okay i found what the ad was. It was advertising a different site called www.abs.com. It must be a fairly good and cheap site considering newegg is advertising it.
