yes. the pc3200 will run at the speeds of the 2700.

Yep its OK to do that, it wont cause any damadge just as alanuofm said, you will ha\ve a severe bottleneck to deal with. You should look at upgrading the older 2700 module aswell.

lol sry preator i have read it it was just a while ago, i thought that question wasnt answered in it although it prolly is.

Right now i just want more than 512MBs of ram so PC2700 will be good eneugh for me

The performance difference of the 2700 VS the 3200 is nothing major at all. You will definitly see a big improvement in doubling the RAM size. Of course it would be better to get a 3200 stick to replace the one you have now. However, it would be, in my view, a waste of money.

yeah, i found a 512mb of pc2700 ram costs 40 dollars and the pc 3200 costs 41.

but maybe he already has a 2700, so it would be a total of 82$ in the prices that liuliuboy found, instead of 41. and he is just doing that for when he upgrades later
