pc4200 won't run at 533mhz

I have an ECS P4M800-M PRO (i know, i know). Anyway, I bought a 1GB stick of PQI Turbo DDR2 Memory rated at 533mhz. However, my motherboard does not like it running at 533mhz, instead Windows only starts up when I manually lower the Memory clock to 400mhz or less. What's going on here?

No, I am not trying to overclock anything as of right now. I just want to run the CPU and RAM at the same FSB (533mhz).

Did you touch the timings? Because if you push the timings too far low, sometimes it will fail to boot unless the clock speed of the ram is lowered.

What brand of RAM is it? I've read several reports, especially on DDR2 chips, where the advertised stock latencies and speeds would never work, and the chip would always underclock itself. You may be stuck with a lemon for a stick. You can try to loosen the timings, and see if that helps at all.

well, you need to use a divider to se the RAM speed, you can just jack up the FSB to get the clock speed on your RAM, that causes instability

as far as iknow that ram stick (1stick) will run at 533mhz, if n only if he's runing it in dual channel mode, which doesn't wrk wit one stick of ram.. correcrt me if i'm wrong.
