PCI and AGP

Well let me think

Errrm Pci is Slow and Agp Is Faster ....

The original PCI bus was designed to operate with a 33MHz clock to provide data transfer speeds up to 132 Mbytes/sec.

The Brown One is AGP
the White one is PCI

Each speed increase over 1x provided double the bandwidth as well as double the clock speed through the use of special signaling. So, AGP 2x offers a maximum bandwidth of 533 MB/s at a speed of 133 MHz, AGP 4x offers a maximum bandwidth of 1066 MB/s at a speed of 266 MHz, and AGP 8x offers 2.1 GB/s at a speed of 533 MHz

So AGP Is Faster than PCI....You Cant Run a Faster GFX Card on PCI i will Fry The mobo ...

Anyway, I don't know too much technical stuff about PCIe, but it is the fastest/newest. The fastest AGP is 8x, fastest PCIe is 16x.

There's a good pic of the PCIe. As you see, therea re various versions of the port. Most common are those, 1x and 16x...but I've yet to really see anything other than 16x cards. Most components still just use standard PCI...

And a PCI GFX won't damage your mobo as evil said, you just have a MAJOR bottle neck.

Yeah, PCIE is currently the best as known to be faster though this can make the components slightly a little bit pricey but not by alot.

PCIExpress will eventually replace PCI *and* AGP because it's inherently faster and can drive longer signal runs reliably.
The cost differential is only because it's still fairly new.

Currently, PCIExpress mobos have up to 24 lanes, of which 16 are used to drive the graphics card.

If you want to know more ....

Ever consider a 6600GT in AGP versus 6600GT in PCIE?
