PCI card help!

Hello - I am deciding on getting the x1550 for PCI, NOT EXPRESS...
I want to get this card because from what i had researched, this is the best video card for PCI...

Though it costs more than 2 times the price of Nvidia 6200, i think i want to get the best because i am not planning on wasting $2000 on a new computer that im not going to use for more than 2 years...

What i noticed is that my motherboard is not for gaming. no PCIE, No AGP... - though it has socket 775, and can support the top of DDR (not ddr 2) ram. (400 Mhz, PC3200).

My motherboard is ASUS P5P 800-MX.

Here are some questions that i need answered...

- I have a 300 Watt power supplie, and that is the minimum, will the card run well, or do i have to buy a better PSU?

- My computer specs. are Celeron D 2.93 Ghz, 640 ddr ram (getting 4 gigs after this upgrade)

If anyone can help me decide on a better card, or give me any suggestions, ill be very thankful!

:)

One more thing - when i looked the card up - it said i need PCI 2.2V, anyone can tell me what the means?

hmmm - like i said, im not going to play crysis or anything directX 10.

i am just asking for recommendation about video card and will it run smoothly...

:)

In my media pc, there is a nx 6600 (not GT) and it has a 300W PSU (good quality). Minimum requirements voor a nx 6600 is 350W.

right. with that computer it will never EVER use more then two gigs. and with the average price hovering around 100 bucks per gig, i think that'll save you some serious cash!

you never said that, and I didn't mention crysis. With that PC you won't be able to run ANY new game...

If you want a better card and 4gb of ram usually means that you want a better performance for gamming.

if you want to know if that card will run smoothly you should first tell us what games you want to play.

I know where i can buy 4gb for ram for $120.

:)

BTW ppl, the reason i want to get this card is because mine blows!

1st of all its intergrated, 2nd of all its intel 82865G graphics controller 96 MB intel extreme 2, and third of all i think this card is directX 7....

chuck it, meaning throw that hunk of crap out the window :)

youre better off getting a new motherboard than investing in something thats not gonna be practical in a year or so.

You can get a good pc for like $1000 that will last you for 1-2 years if something wicked comes out then u can upgrade.

Intel Core 2 Duo
Nvidia 8700 or 8800 gt or gts
MSI, ASUS motherboard.

Just look at newegg.com or tigerdirect. I know they even sell combos motherboard and cpu in a bundle. Its not worth adding stuff to ur old motherboard cause its old. Plus I think crysis wont run dont you need a good video card and cpu to run it.

cool thing - i was examening my MB and i see where an AGP slot might go...

any suggestions?

if you wana see - google p5p800-MX and look at a picture closly where an AGP slot would go...

BTW i dont need crysis i just need support for like BF2 so i can play lan when i get a new computer.

Hell, i found a 2GB ram, like pentium D 2.9Ghz or something like that 320GB HDD dual layer burner and a whole bunch of other good stuff for $300.

Oh, it says FX5700 minimum, but I've played BF2 on 3 different computers with 3 different FX5200's and they worked fine.

During artillery it might get a bit laggy... But overall it's fine.
