I want to buy a new graphic card (atm i have 8600 gts) but i have an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe and it doesn't have a PCI Express 2.0 port. My bugdet is 5000nok = 1000usd and my question is: Should i go for a new amd motherboard or should i buy 2x 8800 gtx, or maybe just one 8800 gtx? Is sli really that good? I like to have large resolutions and that requires good graphics :D

Get two 8800GT's or G92 GTS's. PCIe 2.0 graphics cards work perfectly fine on PCIe 1.0 motherboards.

BUT you have AMD, i would only get one 8800GT, unfortunately any dual card setup will be rather pointless on an AMD system. On top of that motherboard is only capable of running SLI at x8/x8 speeds.

If you want a dual card system, you would really need to spend the money on something like a E8400 and a X38 motherboard with two high end ATI cards or a 780i coupled with 8800GT's

ye, i read around and found out the same thing, im going to buy a 9600 gt because of the stupid 8x/8x setup

Why is sli pointless with amd? i know its not as efficient as intel but i have 3.0Ghz...
And i have heard about aa which only works with sli?

Even at 3.0Ghz, AMD processors are a huge bottleneck on SLI systems.

If you have the money get the G92 8800GTS, or 8800GT. Both are better than the 9600GT

9800GTX would be OK. The GX2 however is like a dual card system, you won't see much gain of a 9800GTX.

You have a big enough power supply for any of these cards i assume?
