Pci-express speed

Hi there, I am wondering if my motherboard (Asus M5A97 R2.0) is capable of PCI-Express 3? I read on one part of the description that it has PCI-E 2.0, and another part said that it was 4x. So I'm not sure which one it is? Also if it is 2.0, is it slowing down my GTX 770?

Your 770 won't even fully utilize the bandwidth of the 2.0 slot so you're all good.

3.0 is only utilized by really high end cards at the moment, and I think even then there's very small differences.

Also just so you know PCI-E 2.0 x16 is equivalent to 3.0 x8. Similarly PCI-E 1.0 x16 = PCI-E 2.0 x8. The pattern continues as you would expect.

Just to back up what was said above. With a GTX 770 your fine with a PCIe 2.0 slot
