can somebody tell me the difference between pci express and agp? Which is better when it comes to performance? which is faster? thanks in advance.....

Please google this as I'm sure there are countless reviews/benchmarks/explinations of this. However, I will say PCI Express is the newest/fastest interface. However, if you compare identical card chipsets(say a PCI Express Geforce 7600GS and an AGP Geforce 7600GS) there will be little, if any performace difference. The only real advantage of PCI Express right now is the ability to run SLI.

The_Other_One has pretty much summed it up. PCI-E cards also tend to be considerably cheaper than their AGP counterparts.

In short, if you're getting a new PC you'd be better off getting a PCI-E board, unless you really want to keep your existing AGP video card.

PCI Express cards are also cheaper at the moment. And they are easier to find. The industry is phasing out AGP as the people above have said.

1 thing I have noticed is the PCI-e graphic cards also tends to have faster RAM too.

Well, wouldn't that be because they are newer? If you were to compare a same model GPU, PCI-ex and AGP, the specs would be the same. Just the interface which is different.

wrong. :) the biggest advantage of pci-e is that the newest grafic's cards are only released on pci-e (1900xtx etc) :p
So by saying he's wrong, you're basically saying that SLI is not a PCI-E advantage?

He was not wrong, he just listed one of the advantages.
