PCI Express

After much deliberation I have finaly decided to go out and get a new video card. I decided on a GForce 6600. However were ever I look I see pci express and not agp. I know I can get an agp one but it is a little more expensive. so can someone tell me what the differance is between a AGP and PCI Express card and do I need a special motherboard to run a PCI Express card or will it fit in a normal PCI slot?? Cheers!

PCI-E will not fit in a normal PCI slot, you will need a motherboard that supports it. Most motherboards will have either AGP or PCI-E slots, so if you don't want to upgrade your motherboard, best to stick with whatever you have now. Performance wise, there's very little difference, but PCI-E is better for futureproofing (and supports SLI).
