so i bought this fx5500 card for our computer that only has pci slots because i wanted to play world of warcraft in better detail than the integrated crap. i got it in ok and everything and started playing the game....but it freezes bad when i enter buildings, i can play other games fine tho. i would have to hold down the power button to turn off...ctrl alt delete to task manager did nothing. so i updated the drivers and everthing but i had the same problem. i even tried the card on a friends bran new computer(thinking maybe our computer was messed) to see what happend and the same thing happend, so i just returned it and got a refund.... now i want to know if anybody has had this problem with this card and that game, also, whats the best pci card out there cuz i really wanna step away from this integrated stuff. thanks in advance

awwww really? i dont really care about turnin everthing on max settings......if u saw this 32mb s3 prosavage integrated crap u would see where im comming from...the sky is black when it should be green, i can see about 2 feet in front of me....i get about 7.5 fps walking through the barrens on absolutly every visual feature turned down, so yeah.....ANYthing will look better. low med settings at 1024x768 would be fine with me....i just want it to PLAYYYY.

are you sure ur pc doent have a pci-e or agp slot? can we see your specs? hmm if u got on low settings on 800X600 u mite be able to pull it off

yeah im running the game at 800x600 right now with everything on low and it jerks like crap if u can imagine. its got a celeron processor, 512mb ram and yes no agp slots, which really ticked me off when i looked inside. i liked the 5500 it ran perfectly just as i wanted but as soon as it froze up after entering buildings was dissapointed. so im just looking into buying a pci card id like an ati card since nvidia kinda made me mad.

You can run it with a PCI card, just like crap on low setting's. If your willing spend 100$ on a PCI video card, i would suggest instead gettign a motherboard with a AGP slot fo under 40$, and then get a AGP card for around 60$, it'll do you more good then a nice pci card.

hey that fx5700 looks like a good deal to me since thats all i can get basically and ill buy it but i have one question of concern, will it work with Wow without any hiccups...since that was my only problem with the last fx card. as for that ati one...it says direct x 8 down there....im not sure if wow will play on anything other than direct x 9, is that correct or am i wrong? thanks for all the replys btw :)

yeah thats not a bad idea either...exept i dunno if i could do it since its not really my comp more like my moms and i dunno if she'd be happy about me tearin it apart....u know how ppl get about stuff like that. i may just deal with the crappy thing right now and save up and build my own since ive got a part time job right now and i could save up for a while

if you get a fx5700LE on pci, you absolutely should be able to play the game.
( also, the fx5500 should have run the game fine.. maybe it was overheating.. )

anyway, there is no0 performance difference between the fx5200 AGP and the fx5200 pci.. i ran the game on a AGP card cuite a while.. so you should be fine.

I have a friend with an emachines celeron 1ghz with 256 sdram computer with an integrated videocard and he can barely run it. He just bought a new radeon pci card (forgot witch kind) and now he gets around 20fps with all low settings. I think his cpu and ram is holding his FPS behind, maybe if he had a better cpu and more ram his fps would be higher.
