pci ide controller, please please help

i got a new motherboard, but it only has 1 ide controller. but i have 2 HDDs and 2 disk drives and they are all ide. so, my friend gives me a promise technology ultra100 pci ide controller. but when i put it in, it doesnt properly recognize my harddrive. so, i find the drivers for it. but, when i run the new hardware wizard, it cant find the driver. I really need to get this adapter card working properly. anyone have experience with one of these that can help?

when i installed my pci ide controller, it was an executable.

does it give you the option "have disk"?
also, try going through device manager > update driver.
