Hey-llo!

I really can't tell the difference between an AGP slot, and a PCI slot. I took a picture of our slots, but dont know how to show it to you guys.
Can anyone help me?

Chris

1. Upload the pictures onto a photo hosting site such as photobucket. Then copy the URL here.

2.

3.

PCI slots

4.

Large one on top is PCI Express

The "main" difference between PCI and PCI-E is that the PCI slots are parallel slots while the PCI-E is a serial slot.

Agp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is so much better

ok,

1. That can be said in one post, not two

2. If you are comparing AGP to PCI, then maybe but if you add PCI-e to this then it takes the prize

3. Isnt a difference that you wont find a high end graphics card running on pci or AGP, but pci-e

lol did you really need two posts for that?

Anyways, PCI is generally for expansions like wireless cards, sound cards, raid controllers etc...though there are some old graphics card made for this slot.

AGP is the older slot for graphic cards

PCI-e X16 is the newer slot for graphic cards.

PCI<AGP<PCI-E

Oh and for all of you smart ones out there, we don't need to put every single type of GPU slot AKA x4/x8 :D.

Also, bnelatury, was it really necessary to have a double post?

PCI-e X16??? my bad what is this kind of slot?

I posted a pic of it in the beginning. And many people have explained it in this post:

-fastest
-newest
-the newest high end cards only come on this interface
