PCIe 2.0 makes no difference if using just one card right ?

Or said another way.. there's no point in getting a X38 (PCIe 2.0) motherboard if I'm getting only one card ?

By the way do both cards have to be identical for crossfire ?

Umm PCI-e 2.0 is a much faster bus newer cards will soon use it I'm not sure if the 8800gt or gts(g92 ones) use it .. but its not only for crossfire or SLI its for single cards aswell, PCI-e 1.1 goes at 2.5 gigabits .. so like 312mb/s and PCI-e 2.0 goes at twice the speed so 5 gigabits or 624mb/s .. the bus speed is pretty muc the speed that the PCI-e bus talks to the CPU new cards will utilise this .. concidering their gona start using ddr5 ram soon .. and now there using ddr4 ram which is like way fast .. much more than 624mb/s .. though not really that much data would go 2 the CPU .. but yea .. i think i've said enough.

there's no need to update to PCIE2.0 in a couple weeks.in hardware tests of many media pci-e transmission band-width ain't bottleneck yet.

PCI-E 2.0 isn't just for multi-card setups, stand alone cards can benefit from the doubled bandwidth as well, it's just that with todays cards, you won't notice a difference.

Cards must be identical in crossfire or sli. And for the X38, it has no real advantage over the P35 besides a few more USBs and dual PCIe ports. If you dont plan on running dual cards, the P35 comes highly recommended.

actually you can crossfire two cards that are different frequencies or different brands. not sure about sli though

Ideally yes, but any type of 7600GT can be sli'ed with any other type of 7600GT (i know form experience, what a bad experience was as well :()

So why even post this if you know its a bad idea? The answer is yes, they have to be identical.

how many of your 23,514 posts are useless/spam?

That was uncalled for, I find alot of OMEGA's posts very useful. Back to the original question, I don't think there is a card out there that fully utilise the extra bandwidth that PCI-E 2.0 offers. I have a XFX 512MB 8800GTS and I find that PCI-E 1.0 is more than enough for it. He posted like Yoda with the verbs at the end of the sentence. :D Understood that sentence I did not :P

yeah, "yep,at present 2.0 ain't gonna any frames per second raised." is abit hard to understand, but I think he is trying to say that PCI-E 2.0 at present will not increase the framerates because there isn't a card that fully utilise the extra bandwidth. :D I think that's what he meant.

I wasn't referring to the post being useless or spam (which I don't make that many of), I was referring to his spelling and grammar.

It's a shame.Im gonna pay more attention.
thx for your opinion.
