is there s difference. my computer came with a the nvdia 8500 gt. and if i upgrade to the gddr2 or gddr3 pcie will that still be compatiable just wont run at gddr2/3 but what my slot is capable of.
Wow, I'd love to hear where you came up with that. Yes you can run a PCI-E 2.0 card in a 1.1 slot, and vice versa. As for performance gain/loss, you would most likely only notice it with the high end video cards like the 4870 X2 or GTX 280, not with the 8500GT.ohhhhhh, but yes you will, BUT you will lose about 2-3 fps

That's just way wrong, video cards are already pushing the bandwidth capability of PCI-E x16 slots (not 2.0). Also, when playing games at the insane 2560x1600 (around that) resolution, there's a noticeable difference between 512MB and 1GB.an AGP slot wouldn't bottleneck any video card.. especially one with 512mb or more memory. depending on the game and graphics settings 256mb should be just fine too.
