PCIE GC suggestions

I was looking at the BFG GeForce 7900 GS the have for $100 after rebate at FRYs. Does anyone have this card, or any other suggestions for an affordable upgrade? I'm running an AGP BFG 6800 now, and I'm doing a complete overhaul(new mobo, CPU, RAM, and GC)

Went with the BFG 7900. Couldn't beat the price.
I've heard this card can be unlocked to a GT. How risky is that?
Would it be worth it?
