PCIe versus AGP 8x

I see a lot of new computers and higher end computers using PCIe now, especially for graphics cards. I've been outa the loop up until a few days ago, and i was wondering which is faster/better (for faster is not always better). I am guessing it is better, seeing how a lot of newer and higher quality computers use them now.
