I sanned a paper and I saved it on my computer as a .pdf file [because my scanner doesn't have to option to save it as .doc or .txt file].
How can I edit the text on the .pdf to write in it?

Is there any program that allows me to make changes to to a pdf , scanned image and turn the text in this image in a real text?

A google search returns tons of free apps that convert PDF to ascii and there are also Linux command line tools that do this too. I cannot say that I have any personal experience with either, but I would start by just doing a google search on the apps itself.

I will try this one. All of the other converters i found online which claimed to convert pdf to word is not true. The pdf gets converted to a somewhat like a picture file pasted on word doc and I could not edit it.

The one I linked does not convert PDF to .doc. It does however convert PDF to plain text, which can then be opened/imported into MS Word if need be.

this is so true. I converted this file from PDF to Word [online] and it was converted just as a picture, not as text.

I'll try what tlarkin posted.

Well I have no experience so I cannot say, but the top hit I found that was actually 100% free is this

All the other top hits were free to try, but cost money to purchase. I assume you are running Windows?

Sorry , this doesn't work for me. It only converts as picture not as text. And after conversion it says:

The trial version only convert first two pages.
If the program works for you, please click "Buy Now" to register it.

Is your source PDF an image? Like for example in Adobe Reader I can select text and copy/paste it into a text editor

The source PDF IS an image -text. It's a scanned text - therefore it's in image.
I want to extract text from this image.

You know I got this idea....not sure if it will work. Google docs can convert anything to HTML (plain text) since you can do google searches and get PDF results but have google render it in HTML for you.

So, first step would be to get a gmail account if you don't already have one. Next email yourself the PDF in question and once you upload the attachment open that email and instead of clicking on the download part, click on view.

It should then open google docs and you should be able to select all text from the file and copy/paste it into any application you wish. I just tested this with a pdf my bank sent me and it worked. However, I have no idea how the PDF was created to begin with.

It did not allow me to right click and copy/paste I had to use ctrl + c and ctrl + v to copy paste but it did work for me.

How about opening the PDF in Adobe Reader and saving as text? Images and complicated stuff will be gone but the text will be there. Unformatted so will not work so well with tables.
