Peer to peer safe?

It depends on how careful you are. And downloading only legal things and things that are from legit places.
if you intend to download copyright music its against the law and if you get caught you will be in alot of trouble also the program will search your pc for music etc and share it with other users and you get in more trouble for uploading copyright material,
thats for malware and viruses its almost inevitable that you will get them.

I'm getting some house guests and was asked if I have sharazza. I would rather not bother dealing with it. I had no idea about a possible violation. I had heard mall ware was a problem on p2p and just really wanted it confirmed. I'm not even sure about the legal issues because I never use it.
How about Youtube, how does listening to artists factor into the legal or moral issues. Any comments?

okay, most of the stuff on bittorrents (p2p) is illegal copies. Where they took a a copyrighted item (movie, piece of software, book, music, etc.) and uploaded it for the world to share without paying for it. Now that is the legal issues and moral problems. Because it's plain stealing.
As far as YouTube there is some copyright violations but It's getting better. Since Google bought YouTube.

Haha, No I've only used a bittorent once and that was to download Ubuntu Server OS. But I do have an excellent book which has a section about them.

XD Not only does p2p infect you with malware it also opens a GateWay for hackers... OOOOOOOOO didn't know that did you.. Basicly when uploading Files anyone who wants the filed can connect to your computer to recieve them. You get my point if you dont.. Umm You will need to learn more about security related issues.
