Peerguardian

I was wondering if Peerguardian is effective in keeping your computer safe compared to other anti-virus type programs, since PG2 is fast and takes very little memory.

Any suggestions?

i think Peerguardian is a ip blocker for use with p2p programs it is not an anti virus program so anything you download that contains a virus wont be picked up by Peerguardian you will still need an anti virus program and there are some good free ones like avg, just avoid norton it will slow your pc down.

Peerguardian simply loads a list of IP's that are known to be False or otherwise deceptive (something like that). It blocks unwanted IP's. No virus capabilities to mention.

theres really no reason to use this program unless you are downloading shady stuff and are afraid of the FBI coming to your house.
