Pentium 4 - AMD?

haha. i have never had an amd, i have allways delt with intel. i ask because i am wondorin if i should have got a different cpu!
 
AMD uses the numbers (3000, 3200, etc.) as what they think the equivalent Intel processor speed is, because they say that their internal design is better. So a 3.2 GHz (3200 MHz) Intel P4 would be "equivalent" to an Athlon 3200.
 
Actually if you want same price, you can probably get an FX-55 for the same price as your P4. If not, you can get at least a 3800+ from AMD.

1. Both AMD and Intel use performance ratings now.
2. AMD was very careful not to state that their numbers had any relationship (also, in a lot of the cases, its quite off)

The P4's probably cost as much as an A64 3500+ when I looked at newegg.com.

Once again you find the need to insult. I make mistakes, pretty routinely on this website, but yeah, I just checked and the 3500+ is actually close to the equivalent, I just never checked until today. That FX-55 talk was WAY off, I know that now.

Its only an insult if it's true. But from your own comments in that you only checked the price then yet you spoke so solidly but a few hours prior to my post .. would you have rather me offered a shittalker t-shirt? C'mon at least fanboy was kinda funny.;)

Insults don't have to be true to be an insult. What AMDCam said was completly wrong, but you didn't have to add that part about a fanboy t-shirt in there. What did you think you were going to accomplish in saying that? You obviously wanted to get a rise out of him, which seems imature to me.

it was supposed to be funny, you just took it wrong. if jokes offend you, and you can't handle people laughing at you, MAYBE you should REALLY try to post factual information that you can backup and prove. instead of posting things you THINK might be correct, without even knowing before you post it.

it's jsut like, "think before you speak" but, "research before you post". of course if you post something 100% wrong, someone is going to laugh at you, it should be expected. so take some precautionary steps to avoid such humiliation.

just what i think...everyone here knows i even break this "rule" pretty often.
