GHz is no was of tell how good a CPU is. I have a 3200+ and it is 2.2GHz and is WAY better. You see, I believe it has to do with something called pipe lines. That smaller they are, the less speed you need to get though them. A P4 3Ghz CPU may have 3Ghz, but the pipe line are long and it takes time to get stuff done. Where as a Core 2 duo the the pip lines are extremely small thus needing less speed to get the job done. Plus if that doesn't make you happy at stock speeds the core 2 duo is very popular with gamers because of 1 main reason. overclocking. Although the core 2 duo is only 1.8 GHZ, you can make the setting on it to make it go over 3GHZ! And when you do that you get more GHz and you have dual core AND less heat than a P4!
