Pentium d 950 which one?

I am building a yesterdays tech computer to save some dough and I see there are three versions of the d950 listed at intel.The SL95V and the SL94P both have (2x2) cache and the SL9K8 is just plain4Mb cache.Apparently they upgrade from time to time and It seems that is where the "stepping" comes into play.The SL94P stepping B1 must be first,the SL95V-C1 second and the SL9K8-DO third.The SL9K8-DO is the one with plain 4Mb cache.Which is better?I am installing an Intel Mobo 955bk.Please explain.Thanks.

You would be better of buying one of the cheaper C2D processors, they are cheap and pack a punch ( much more so than a Pentium D ever will).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115052 is a pretty good one for cheap, I'm sure if you looked hard enough there are some fantastic deals every now and then.

thats just it....

Although the mother boartd usues socket 775,it apparently doesnt support the dual core duo CPu's.Unless I'm mistaken.Of corse the spec sheet was written before the duo existed but as far as I know,i have no choice but to use a pentium D up to 960.If you know something I dont,please explain.Its my first build.
