Pentium D

Ok so my computer is about 3 years old, it's a 2005 HP media center computer. Pavillion m7463w if that will help you look up the MOBO or anything.

This was a computer i recently broke out after the one I built's CPU fan died and I didn't notice it running so hot and it fried. Go figure. Anyway i don't have enough dough to build another seeing as I just bought a new guitar amp, but this one is actually better than I remember. It's not blazing or anything, but it handles alright. Anyway it says it's a Pentium D 3.0Ghz, but that's all the into I can find. I want to know what processors i can replace it with. It does alright, but when I'm multitasking with some of my recording gear with multiple tracks, the cpu bogs down pretty badly. I'll be replacing my video card soon, but that one is easy to figure out, you've got 3 different types of slots, easy to figure out.

However how can I figure out if any other series of processesors will run in this MOBO, or even what MOBO i have? Thanks guys.

Where are you getting the CPU information? Can you tell if it's an 8xx or 9xx Series D? If it's an 8xx, yeah, they were dogs. The 9xx's were actually incredible little CPUs though:)

run cpu-z, it should tell you all the info you need, like what motherboard you have and so on. then you can look up your motherboard spacs and see what it'll take.

Ran the "CPU-Z" and apparently it's a 930 processor, and what I get for mainboard is:

Manufacturer: ASUStek
Model: Emery 1.05
Chipset: Intel i945p rev. A1
Southbridge: Intel 82801GB (ICH7/R)

Any ideas on the MOBO? I tried to look on their main site, but got a bit lost to admit the truth.
