per module memory tester

Is there a program out there that will test RAM modules individually instead of just testing any/all modules I have installed in my system. I know there are programs like memtest, but say I have 2 sticks of 1GB installed and I want to test just one of them without pulling the other one out.

Just about every memory diagnostic utility you will find tests the total memory installed when run. If there are no compatibility issues between the memory used and the board memtest is about the best to use and it's free. If you see errors with both dimms in then you test each one separately to see if one has gone bad on you.

You may run across a program that will list the numbers of separate dimms installed and provide some detail on each that way. Most simply run a series of patterns to stress test the memory installed. Memtest has been the favored for the longest time even over the tools that even Microsoft has offfered over the years.

On a prior build here memtest reported a large number of errors between a matched pair of 512s(Corsair xms series) and a newer pair of 1gb dimms(Kingston Value Ram) of DDR400 memory. On the 939 in use at the moment the two sets were completely error free. Incompatibilty? That's the thing to watch out for with any memory tester reporting errors on otherwise defect free memory.
