i have been expiramenting with overclocking, but when i do it, it seems to take chunks out of my computers performance... i thought you o\c to make your computer faster, not to make it slower... what could be making it do that?

Sometimes overclocking to much will cause ti to become unstable which would cause a lack of performance and not increase.

well i'm using the ati tray tool if that helps, and i'm overclocking them to about 440\550

edit: this is for my video card

for an x800gto, you should be around 400 core/800 mem stock...what is the 550? That could really be your problem

OK so stock is 400/980, and you oced it to 440/1150? Does the performance go down with just a small OC? Or only when you go that high? There is a limit to a card's OCing capacity, you just have to play with it and see what gives you the best performance

that sucks! because when i o/c it even a little, it turns to crap.... check out my score now! 4195 3d marks
(before around 8954)

should i really be seeing this kind of difference

No, it shouldn't be going down like that. All I can say is stop OCing it, and live with the performance it gives.

that sucks, but i do wonder if my psu is doing that? it is only a 350w and is completely stock... maybe it is going out?
