Does anyone know how to change the permissions bs, everything I've been trying to use says permission denied.

Are you talking about a limited account in xp?

No sorry for the lack of info...I'm using linux suse 10 and I'm stuck in a startup screen and it allows me some options but when I try something like " /dev/psaux " it keeps saying permission denied. Is there any way to change that?

Umm I'm Kinda new to all this. Yes its the startup screen. I don't think I have permissions to access root, or at least I haven't figured it out yet.

I'm not typing anything to get a mouse it just ends there when I turn the power on...First the bios screen then suse startup and after that this is the only screen that pops up. I just tried pushing enter and nothing. I tried typing that /dev/psaux and it just gives me permission denied

Because it's no longer used... I don't what kernal you have, but /dev/psaux is no longer used in 2.6+
try "screen=1024x768"
or try to get into runlevel2 (text mode, I don't know how to get to it in suse but it maybe just 2, type 2 at boot and enter) then when it's loaded startx
