Personnal email address

Depending on who you register a domain with, you can actually get an email address without having a website with the domain registrar. For example, I registered a domain with a registrar ([email protected] for example), and they gave me free pop3 email without having a website or hosting service but simply on owning the domain (They have their own webmail interface to use also).

Thanks guys!

thats been really helpful and its what Breaks mentioned that im after. i would like an email address before the website just for communication with customers. Breaks could you recommend any hosts where i can buy my email address name. and im also based in the uk if that makes any difference.

Well, I register all of my domains with the following registrar: http://www.registron.co.uk/ They seem reliable, none of my domains have ever gone wrong and their email (bare in mind that because you're only purchasing a domain and NOT a full on web server package you only get one email address with these guys) works fine.

Fantastic man thats what im after. looks like im going to be buying a domain tonight. well ive be having a look! thanks man!!! :D

I'm not entirely sure what their hosting packages are like, but if you do decide to get a website up and running may I suggest to you www.tsohost.co.uk, I am with them with my websites and they run like a dream without any faults in the whole year I've been with them. Their servers are based in Red Bus in London too ;). Also, the one email addy per domain isn't anything to worry about because when you do end up purchasing a web server, you can create multiple email accounts with them and your domain :).

I checked there website and the prices are good. i'll drop em a mail and see what they are like and thanks for the other link. i'l take your word on it that there good! i just need to sort out my company first and then i can get my domains sorted! thanks man! :D

i know its an old thread but i have purchased my first domain! ts good having an email address that isnt gmail or hotmail for business.

also having just bought my first domain i know nothing about any of it really. i just configured my email and from that i need to learn about it. so how do i go about learning? are there books on this matter? thanks!

To be honest, domains are pretty basic and simple when they're just stand alone domains. Configuring your email is basically all you need to do when having a stand alone domain. Once you have done that, that's it. The only time domain managing can become a little bit of a headache is when you go about purchasing a web server package and you then connect it up to your domain, then start creating sub domains etc. But until you purchase a web domain, I wouldn't worry about that. Even then, that's not exactly a hard thing to do once you play around with the control panel to a web server etc.

nice one thanksfor that. and i just have one more question. the domain that i bought is a free parking domain so i can recieve email but i cannot send email unless i use my

ISP's mail service

so im with BT. how would i go about this and will it cost me? thanks.
