Phenom II 550 Black Edition out

Interesting Find. I think the Phenom II 550 is priced a little too high. For $9 more you could get the Phenom II 710 Tri-Core. A fair price for it would be about $90. The price usually drops pretty soon after the first few weeks.
Yeah. Looks like it just released. Maybe it'll drop a bit.

Tasty little cpu though. Well worth $109.00 I think.

Yeah, granted some people just don't want a tri-core too. The 550 has the unlocked multi, will be cooler, and have a higher overclock - there are still idiots with dual cores out there over tri or quads :rolleyes:

So you're saying anyone who buys this is an idiot.

I was simply stating it's a great deal, spec for spec, over an Intel Core 2 Duo.

There's no real need for more than 2 cores anyway.

No. I'm saying that there is a market for it, because people would rather have a higher clocked 2 core, than a slightly lower clocked 3 core.

2.6ghz * 3 = 7.8ghz
3.1ghz * 2 = 6.2ghz

Thats quite a nice deal on a new AMD cpu.....i wish new intels would be introduced at those prices :D

For the price AMD is just kicking ass right now, cant beat the performance and future upgradeability with an AMD over intel system right now, as socket 775 is end of life, and the future of 1366 is uncertain due to core i5...

I want one of these processors just to play around with. Too bad I just blew my computer funds on my current build. Even though I got the i7 I'm curious about the phenom II platform also.

My only two PC comparisons are Pentium 4 vs Core i7
