Phenom II X2 560 BE vs Corsair DDR3 1600

I bought Pehnom II X2 560 BE CPU yesterday, and a new RAM - Corsair DDR3 1600MHz. I read somewhere that this CPU will not support 1600MHz RAM, however on another website I saw a benchmark, where the benchmark rig was equipped with this CPU and 160MHz RAM.

Does anyone know what is true, or maybe someone has got this CPU and 1600 MHz RAM running in their rig?

I'd appreciate a prompt answer, as I can still cancel the CPU transaction and buy another one, that will support 1600MHz RAM.

The highest official speeds supported by AM3 systems is 1333MHz, however, 1600MHz will work just fine. Only downside to that is that some (only a few) AM3 motherboards don't like 1600MHz memory, specifically Corsair's, so you will either have to underclock it to 1333MHz, or get a different brand of 1600MHz memory should that problem arise

It isn't officially supported, and I happen to have the exact same board and memory that you plan on getting.

I've been having problems recently, due to memory I am almost certain of, still diagnosing, however my system seems fairly happy @ 1333MHz, but not at 1600MHz. But then again, I have had problems at 1333MHz too, so I doubt it is the speed, my inclination is towards mismatched memory, which would run with higher clocks causing more problems, because it takes less time for the fault to arise, because there are more read/writes going on in the same amount of time. I built a system late last year though for a customer with an M4A79XTD EVO + 1333MHz Corsair and he's had no issues with it at all.

I'm saying it is a possibility, and I know of others who have had problems with the same motherboard and memory, but on the flip side, I know people who have had no problems at all with the same set up, so it is a potential risk to go for it
 
Great, thank you so much for an answer. I was actually considering Patriot @1333 or the Corsair in quetion. I think I'll just swap Corsair for the Patriot ones, just to be safe.

Any time. You won't notice any difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz anyway, so it isn't a downgrade, it is just a different set
 
Yeh, I guess that the difference is not really noticable with bare eye :)

P.S. The Patriots in question look so much better too! :)
 
Well its really got more to do with the processor then the motherboard, other then a few exceptions (when the board isn't suppling the voltage to the CPUNB as well as it claims). The Memory Controller is on the processor, not the motherboard. The mother board does nothing other then changing the Controllers multiplier.

If your having a problem running over 1333 (unless the memory controller is just a dud) try bumping up the CPUNB voltage. Its even worse with the C2 stepping, they did some work on the memory controller in the C3 stepping.
