Phone scam!

Hi guys
This morning i received a call from a lady with very thick indian accent, persisting that she's calling from "windows customer care service". I was suspicious why would they call to Poland from London, but because i bought my computer abroad I initially fall for it. She asked me to open Event Viewer and tell her how many errors and warnings there were. There were a few, and she said with grave voice that my computer's at risk and may be badly damaged. Then she told me to open a "logmein123.com" and enter a 6digit number, which she gave me. I was supposed to connect with the "technician". I sensed that it was a scam, but accidentaly i clicked on "connect" and downloaded some .exe file, which I immediately deleted. I said her that i dont believe her and askd to prove that she's calling from windows service. Instead of answering she started to repeat the same thing about my computer at risk like a robot, so i hung up. They knew my surname. I was typing my credit card details many times from this computer. Is there any possibility that they can do anything?? I do realize how stupid I was x.x
Sorry for mistakes. Help!!

They're not gonna be able to do anything unless you ran that EXE. They can get your name from anywhere, so that part isn't suspicious at all.

Run Malwarebytes, if you have forgotten to delete something these scammers asked you to download MBAM will find it.

As for the scammers themselves, I've reported them to Trading Standards etc but nothing ever gets done. My approach now is to keep them on the phone as long as possible, if they are talking to me they are not hassling others. My record so far is just over the hour. :)

When they call us we always say "I'm sorry, we don't have a computer". They always get really embarresed(they say "i'm sorry." etc etc.) and hang up.

That's alright. Just as long as you did not give him your credit card and you turned off your PC before he could even access it, he should not be able to do anything. And whatever program he instructed you to install, remove it. Do it OFFLINE.

I hope that helps!

Oh, I got a call like that, too. Phone number was 206-456-0661.

I think maybe your caller and my caller is the same person because when I looked up that phone number online, I got this site http://www.callercenter.com/206-456-0661.html where more than 30 people posted reports about getting such a call from that phone number. They said the man had a thick accent and tried to scam them by telling them there was a virus on their computer and he called to help.

Or they could be of the same Scam group. What was your caller's phone number?
