Photoshop elements alternative

hi..i am looking for recommendations on a photosghop elements alternative i can not use elements right now as i am working on an older pc and need something thats a little less heavy on usage i had it on here but was having problems with it

the main things i did with elements was open pdf and save pages as jpegs
if this cant be done with an alternative photo program im willing to use a separate program that can just do that for me

when it comes to the other thing i like to put together custom wallpapers and collage type things thats pretty much all i do so any suggestions for both of those tasks would be greatly appreciated

Your main problem may be opening pdfs in other graphic editors. It's an Adobe format.

Why you are having problems with PS elements? I run all the graphic programs including the full Photoshop on old PCs. Graphics is not an intensive application. If you can play any video, you can edit graphics.

PDFs can be very large files and will be an issue for any editor. I tried in Photoshop which allowed each page to be opened one at a time. Is that what you found with Elements? The page took a few seconds to appear as a graphic. If the PDF has 50 pages, that's 50 graphics. Slow going but 50 is 50!

my problem isnt just that its running slow for some reason it causes me errors ive looked into it and im not 100 percent its elements causing it but i isntaleld it then had the problem uninstall and dont seem to have it so thats why im thinking that

and my pc is old to the point that it wont play hd video

Full HD video is a different kettle of fish, I meant standard video, avi, dvd, wmv etc. Older PCs will not have the graphics speed necessary. Not needed for images.

If you had problems uninstalling, try re-installing. If you still have problems, try to uninstall again cleanly. If successful, re-install.

If you google "remove photoshop elements" no quotes, you will find a number of guides how to. Here's one link from Adobe for XP. If you have another OS, google that.
