How would I add a picture to blend in, but be visible over a font?

I want to paste part of a picture of some font, but have it only on the font.. Not like in between the letters too, just on the font..

I don't quite understand what you are talking about. Do you want to place a text player above another layer filled with a picture or vice versa?
 
I think I'd have to use a transparent background, but then I'd want the picture/outline to go over the section of font.


I did a quick example search and came across these examples:

You write the text > rasterize the layer > select just the text > inverse selection > go to the foreground picture layer and delete.
