i wasnt sure where to post this
I was wondering if anyone has the new PhysX card and could tell me whether it is good or not. ALso, where does one buy it

you mean a PCI card that supposedly creates realistic physics in games? i saw something about one on dell's website...

i would suppose it would work great as long as you could find software that supports it...

its out

you obvioiusly have not been following it because it is out and being produced by BFG and ASUS. I was just wondering if it was worth shelling out 300 bucks for

Where did you find it for $300??? Yes they are making it but it is not being sold to the public individually! Yes, it is in some Dell's (Renegade) and in some Alienwares but no where else. You obviously havn't been following:P

It doesn't necessarily give you realistic physics. Think of it like a video card. Way back when, all graphics calculations were done by the CPU, now video cards offload that freeing up CPU time.

The PhysX processor is the same thing but for physics processing (ie. character movement, shattering environment object, etc).

you are correct, t just takes the load off the other proccessing units. and in time will most likly become a standered as like the video card did.

ehh... it seems like the drivers aren't complete yet, and games don't support the realistic physics of it yet.
its gonna be good though :) rumors say its a lot better for physics than a processor!

I think so far only companies such as Alienware offer physics cards. I checked out a number of online stores and they say there not released yet.

The price will be around $250-$350 i believe.

is it worth getting a PhysX card? i want to get GRAW and unreal but that would suck if id have to shell out another 300...
and if you check out the rel time footage you can really see a difference.

GWAR?? the band?

watch the vid clips they have on thier site. they dont look so good. it looks like they just added more falling junk.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare.

I agree right now it's more a novelty than anything useful but when the devs get serious about it and start using the fabric routines and such it'll be a nice thing to have.

Yes it certainly looks impressive. Have a look at the hi-res cellfactor video!

118MB vid.

That's the 256mb version (which asus have the rights to), but you can buy BFG's 128mb version now at Overclockers, in the videocard section. It's probly better to wait for asus's one though.

Just think of it as a processor built specifically to do maths.
