Planning on building this gaming/3d comp.

Hi.

I'm tired of doing all my 3-d editing on my sucky travelmate 4060 So I've saved some money and did some research about the hardware and so on. And I've asampled the folowing specs. But before I order I would like you to check it through for improvement/unneccesary parts.


Core2Duo 8400

mobo 780i (I want it to be future proof)

3870 x2

Patriot 4gb (not certain yet)


Antec 550W

Raptor 10k

Antec 900 (Don't suppose it need link)

DVD burner & soundcard I have no clue about

there is nothing wrong with Patriot ram.

Yeah looks nice. However I'd drop the Patriot RAM and go for OCZ/Crucial/Corsair

Try 3d studio max or cinema 4d. I'm mostly using Adobe After Effects, not really a 3d animating program

Get 4 gigs of G.Skill RAM... cheaper and good reviews.

Looks good but I'd suggest an X38 mobo rather than a 780i. The Nvidia chipset is good for SLI, but if you don't SLI, its better to go for an Intel chipset.

X38 has everything the 780i has... feature-wise...

(Some X38's don't have DDR3 though, I wouldn't recommend DDR3 anyways).
