Planning to buy a 360...

The risk of it being refurbished is that there is a higher chance of it breaking, ecspecially when buying an Xbox 360. There is probably a greater chance of you getting some red lights with a refurb Xbox 360.

My suggestion, figure out how to get $100 more and go for a new premium system.

Most 360s will get a RROD at some point in its life, refurb or not, so I would say go for it. Just don't expect it to last very long.

Well, how long is "not very long" for you?? lol i want to go for it too, cause it was hard for me and took me long to get the $300 i dont think i can wait for $00 more. Would it be better to not play for long periods of time??

Thanks though for the info :)

Allright thanx, im going for it, i think $100 is pretty sweet to save besides, i've read in many places that retail 360 break any ways at some point in time and replaced with a refurbished one afterwards.
Hope mine works longer than usual! lol wish me luck :P
*edit* and its from Tigerdirect i guess thats kind of a thumbs up...

Stay away from refurbished stuff, unless you want to run the risk of breaking/burning whatever you buy and have no warranty

Yea refurbs are horrible. I've heard horror stories of refurbs lasting a week or 2 and then busting.

My console was made in 2005 and it still works perfectly fine, just keep it in an open space

My '06 just died on me and it's completely ventilated . I didn't even play it that much until recently when classes got out for summer. Just you wait, the red rings will come for you too.

Sounds like a horror film :). "The red rings are coming for you!"

At this rate it SHOULD be a horror film haha! WE could film it! It would be low budget and just plain awful acting but all we really need is some girl to scream really loud when a 360 shows the rings...heck we could use mine! I'm sure it will show the rings after leaving it on for 10 minutes. Any takers???

I bought a premium system late last year. The power went out once, and my xbox showed a red ring. I restarted it. I suppose it wasn't the infamous "red ring of death".

I've had no real problems, so far.

Haha, this "red ring of death" sounds too scary for a broken console, think about it, what do you call the sign when a PS2 breaks down! lol
