Plasma TV's

I hope this is the right place. I didn't know if it was off topic as most of these have VGA/DVI ports :P

I'm just curious about something... Everyone likes these things because of their size and such, but personally, I think the picture is quite horrible. Every time I see one in action, it looks like a low quality video. You know that blur you get when things move too fast? I don't mean like a normal LCD does, I just mean like a DIVX or similarly compressed video does.

I assume these TV somehow compress the video or something to be displayed correctly or something? I guess something must be done as regular TV is interlaced, but I'm just wondering why they look like this. I mean a standard flat screen CRT looks awsome.

Plasmas are generally more vibrant in color and thus you can see better picture being further away from it. LCD's on the other hand can be used at very close proximity around 2-5 feet. I have seen some plasmas that seemed to be very clear at close range though....i guess it all comes down to tuning/and how high quality your wires are.

I mean, they look fine on still shots, but there's a bad motion blur... Eh, maybe I can find some video and try to show you what I mean...

I think i know what you mean....is the motion blur just in the backround or on the main focus as well?

Depends on what kind of TV, a $800 Apex or dawoo or some other crap is not going to have a picture like a $8,000 pioneer and it also depends on the video feed and cables!

I know for sure that there is no motion blur or lag in any Samsung TV (plasma or LCD) because they use 10-bit processors....which is an extra 2 bits from all other companies.

Samsung's tv's have a killer picture!

I think he was checking out apax or dawoo's at wallmart myself because all the big dollar plasma tv's I have seen have a great picture!
