Playing a game, screen goes black. GPU problem?

Ok there was another topic I had on here but I figured that out. Here's the new problem: When playing certain games, I can play them for about 5 mins and then the screen goes black. I can still hear the noises in the background and even play the game. Is this a video card problem. I thought it was a power problem so I got a new 400 watt psu. I added up all of the things in pc witha power calculator online. It looks like I'm about 20-25 watts under with everything on. I took out two sticks of ram and tried the games but the same thing happened so I'm starting to think it's the card. Anyone else have an opinion?
 
Your fine PSU wise, me thinks, but looking at your sig I see you have x1600 Pro, which, knowing from experience, have bad heatsink/coolers, often poorly mounted and overheats quickly..... Download either ATiTool or ATi Tray Tools and look up the temps.... If you are overheating, I would recommend either getting an aftermarket cooler or reseating you existing one..... The one I have came with thermal pads for the RAM on the original heatsink which prevented proper seating and heat transfer.....

Oh I'm sorry I forgot to say that it's actually my parents computer which is a gateway with a new Ultra 400 watt psu. However my card and their card are the exact same so I'm starting to think it's a heating issue as well. I'll download those tools and see what the temp is. Thanks for the help and the tip!
 
Ok well I tried switching gpu's and the games still freeze at the exact same point. Is it still a power problem??? I input the worst case scenario and it only came to 374 watts consumed. Do I need a 500 watt just to be safe??
