PLaying games with 75Hz sucks !

Hi guys, i bought a new Xerox LCD Monitor and everything is fine but when i play its always "eye hurting" the monitor goes up to 75Hz my onl one up to 100 - 120 Hz ... is there a way to trick that in games or a tool ?!?

the important thing for games and lcds is the response time, generally you want it under 25ms(I've heard 25ms is liveable but gohsting can happen in games). Check the info on your lcd monitor and find out the response time, that may be hurting your eyes.

25ms is horrible. Set the bar at 16ms. :)

CTR
75Hz = 75fps
85Hz = 85fps
120Hz = 120fps

LCD
25ms = 40fps
16ms = 62.5fps
12ms = 83fps
8ms = 125fps

What to expect
CTR
75Hz = 75fps
85Hz = 85fps
120Hz = 120fps

LCD
25ms = 30fps
16ms = 45fps
12ms = 60fps
8ms = 85fps


Lcd monitors do not have refresh rates. It has a response time, which you can compare with a refresh rate, only problem is a response time is not lineal, they just show you the best response time capable but you are not going to expect that in a normal use, (say 20%-35% more).

The other day when playing diablo I got 250fps, but My monitor is at 85Hz so the fps is only going at 85.

To test this out (CTR only), put your computer on 800X600 with the refresh rate at 60, then play with the monitor window and see how fluid it looks (60fps), now up the refresh rate really high [85Hz-120Hz], now play with the window and you will notice it looks much more fluid and smooth, this is becuase you montior is now going at a high frame rate. this is saying you computer can handle 120fps in windows desktop.

When I say what to expect, I say the real life true responce time of a monitor, which is always more then what the specs are.
 
First Example.
We have a game Unreal tournament 2004, the desktop can render this game at 110fps, sending the signal anologe @ 75Hz means you are only sending 75frames now, the Lcd monitor recieves those 75frames, but sence it has a delay of 25ms (30 true ms) it can only display 33 of those frames a second.

Second Example.
We have a game Unreal tournament 2004, the desktop can render this game at 110fps, sending the signal anologe @ 75Hz means you are only sending 75frames now, the Lcd monitor recieves those 75frames, but sence it has a delay of 12ms (15 true ms) it can only display 66 of those frames a second.

Third Example.
We have a game Unreal tournament 2004, the desktop can render this game at 110fps, sending the signal anologe @ 100Hz means you are only sending 100frames now, the CTR monitor recieves those 100frames and shows those 100frames.

What, the herts you run your computer at isnt the fps. The fps is how many frames the game can give. For example I run my monitor at 75 hurtz and the fps in halo is 30. It isnt because of delay or nothing cause in the game the fps can go up or down, and does alot. Also whats wrong with 75 thats what I run it at and doesnt hurt my eyes at all...I have a crt monitor if that matters.

No, it is sending 90, the monitor is only updating 85 times. Refresh rate and FPS are different things, with vsync they are the same.

lags my gfx card really bad. i never use vsync, but on a higher quality monitor/gfx card it probably makes it less choppy.

i usually run my monitor 85Hz, but on 1024*768 32-bit color it will go up to 100Hz.

NO!, you are only sending 85fps to the monitor, 85Hz, or 85 cycles or 85 frames.
