playing sound from speakers/headphones

i want to play music from my speakers while listening to someone talk on a one-ear headset, with both connected to my comp. is there any way to direct music to the speakers when the headset is also plugged in?
 
You'd basically need two sound cards, I beleive. Or perhaps even USB headphones...

Though, it seems there'd be some way you could say use the front channel for music and the rear channel for voices, if your computer has 5.1 or more channels...
 
Never tried it before, but if you have a disk drive with a built in headphone jack (most modern ones do, I think), then you might be able to use that one for music and you other for your headset.
 
just get a splitter from radioshack/the source, I have my headphones and stereo both connected to my computer via headphone splitter, works great.
 
the headphone actually is usb, and the sound card i have i believe is compatible up to 7.1. unfortunately i cant find anywhere to even mess around with different channels
