I am planning on purchasing this gaming rig, mostly from newegg. Please comment and say whether it is good or bad. the monitor is not the best, it is just so that I have something until I get a better one.

Case: XCLIO A380BK ATX Full Tower
MotherBoard: ASRock P43DE3 LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W
GPU: SAPPHIRE 100280OCSR Radeon HD 5970 (Hemlock) 2GB
Power Supply: RAIDMAX QUANTUM RX-700 700W
Memory: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Monitor: Gateway FHD2102bmidgz 21.5" 5ms

I am trying to get away fairly cheap, but still be able to get most of the GPU, that is my goal. Is this a combination that won't work for the GPU or will it be enough?

Also, I chose a P43 motherboard because I am not planning on using crossfire.

Thank you for all comments.

Also, what are the OC'ing possibilites with this card? That is of course when I get a better heatsink than the original.

Why go for skt LGA 775 build?,Its a dead socket now and in terms of upgrade-ability....your stuffed.

go for an i5 build.

Bodaggit23: The memory standard on motherboard does not match the memory you chose, wont that create an issue? I am pretty new with this, hence my question. Also, the GPU is not interesting, I reaaaally want 5970.

funkysnair: then please help me with a build, only must is the graphics card, I really want that. Because that card can be use for a long time, while other parts can slowly be upgraded.

My budget is not limitless, but I can go all the way up to $1750, but that must equal a pretty darn good computer. Much rather stay under $1500 though.

No, the memory will just run at the boards max speed.

Nevermind this build, your budget is in another category with that GPU you "need". :P

You can't even buy one right now can you? They're all out of stock. When will you be
purchasing?

Add your card to this build instead. All done. =D

Buying 5970 at amazon.com has a 2-4 week delivery. Also, it is available in CompUSA.

That makes the case too small, must be full tower. But that wont affect the price anything as there are some nice XCLIO cases, all with good reviews.

Other than that, I still need a monitor. Oh, I do not need an OS because I can get one from work. They bought us all new Win7 DVD's, woohoo.

Bodaggit23: How about if I use Crossfire 4890? Is it difficult to Crossfire ATi cards? It seems that they outperform GTX295, but not 5970. But they would cost $200 less, which is nice.

If that card doesn't fit in a HAF 922, it won't fit in any case. It's the same size as a full tower except not as tall. Anyway, case is total personal preference.

The 4890 is a fantastic card and will play any game you want, and yes, you could add one later. Totally up to you. Get the badass if you can afford it. :good:

I dont think you will need a full sized computer case you may save some cash if you go with a mid tower case they are much better for carrying around and that ended up being the big mistake with my PC the case is big so its a pain to carry around when I want to go gaming

I dont think you will need a full sized computer case

But the HD 5970 graphics card he wants is HUGE. 12.16 inches long.
May not be an option, but the HAF cases will accommodate that card I'm sure.

^^ Yeah unless you start cutting out drive bays your NOT fitting a 5970 in a Mid Tower

The 5970 is a monster and Over-priced right now

I would stick with a 4890 and when U get sick of it, sell it, and buy a 5970

if your considering crossfire but also want to keep up with the 5970 i would maybe suggest getting two 5870's or 5850's in crossfire. it might be a little more expessive but two 5870's are accutaly better than one 5970.

the 5970 is also made to be overclocked. it has lower clock speeds than the 5870 because the needed to keep power consuption low. to fix it tho ati made it to be overclocked so you can get faster speeds.

yes if the card is indeed 12.6 inches the haf 922 will have an extra inch to spare. i have the 922 and considered getting the 5970, the case has 13.5 inches of space before you have to start cutting:P
