I PLACED IT DOWN (INTEL CORE 2 DUO) FULLY ALIGNED WITH THE GOLD TRIANGLE BOTTOM LEFT AND THE SHINY METAL SIDE OF THE CPU TOWARDS ME, BUT IT JUST IS LYING THERE... AM I SUPPOSED TO APPLY PRESSURE? I DIDNT NOTICE ANYTHING REALLY "FALL INTO PLACE" OR ANYTHING IT IS JUST SITTING ON TOP. OMFG PLZ HELP ME DID I **** UP MY CPU?

What kind of motherboard?Maybe you bought the wrong socket...do not apply force, remove the cpu and look if any pins are bent,if not thank god,if so,you may be able to return it,take out the cpu and look at the pin allignment and look at the mobo's cpu socket and make sure they look like they'd go together, then double check and make sure you alligned the gold triangle with the right thing and then post back.

OK i AM a ****ING IDIOT ROFL...

I had the COVER ON THE CPU CHIP....

they said NOWHERE that it came with a cover or that i needed to remove the cover and someone else told me that no new CPUs come with a cover... I had never seen a chip before this, so I guess u learn somethin new everyday

When i was looking at it, I was like "how the hell does this shit work? it just looks like black plastic... no pins or anything ... technology is insane"

Nah, it should be ok. The socket pins shouldn't have bent or broken as long as you didn't latch the lock on the socket.

those pins aren't easy to bend. They aren't on the CPU, it just has flat pads where tiny pins in the socket make contact.
