Hey all got my ram in today and was excited so I threw my new 16gb of ram in and finally got around to installing my new CPU fan.

Now I don't know what happened my computer will start run for 5 seconds then shut down. It went to the boot screen once and was running and I got into the bios and it said (new CPU installed ) and so I set everything as I had it before like it was the first boot up .

I did that and went save and reset and now it will turn on and shut off after 5 seconds then turn on and run continuously but there is no display from either the GPU dvi or motherboard dvi.

I'm so upset right now please help. I did take my CPU out of the socket to clean the thermal pate off and set it back in but what is going on. (Yes I did put my old ram back in to check if it was the ram)

Reset your cmos to see if it will boot back up again.

Remove power from power supply, remove cmos battery, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any remaining power, then wait 5-10 minutes. Then reinsert battery and power and try booting up.

What's a CMOS battery? Lol

OK did that and I'm in the bios, but it says I have to verify the ram is 16GB in bios , how do I do this??? And it says ram is running at 1346mhz how do I change to its native 186

Edit:sorry I found that BT there's only 1884 or 1818???

How do I verify it as 16gb and accept its there cause it does the same thing every time if I don't do tgat

Hmm seems I disabled the unused dimms and set the MHz to 1600and it boots now, any idea why it wouldn't run with even my old ram reinstalled, and is there anyway I can set to run at its native 1866

Your board only supports up to 1600mhz ram unless you overclock it. Here is the specs for your asus board.

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz

I'm not familiar with overclocking so someone else will have answer that for you.

i have ram that's rated the same- bios default set it at 1333 i had to adjust
timing to get it to 1600- this is not overclocked- i also heard that
very few people would notice a differance between 1600 and 1800
or 1333 for that matter.so i did not overclock it.

Try removing the extra RAM you inserted and see if it boots. Then try removing your older RAM and putting your new RAM and see if it still boots.

Are the DIMMs all the same timings/voltages/manufacturers?
